About the Camp

Join us for "Caring for Creation"

Our 2008 Theme: This summer, we will explore what it means to care for and celebrate creation in our relationships with nature, our camp community, our neighbors throughout the world, and with God our Creator. Along with many other traditional camp activities, we will experience the ecology of the north shore, conserve local resources, and reflect on the “St. Francis Prayer for Peace.” Campers will learn about sustainability, the web of life, stewardship, simplicity, and eco-justice and relate them to bible stories.

The Summer Program, Ages 7-13:
Campers live cooperatively as a faith community, in cabin groups that share meals, cabin clean-up responsibilities, recreation, and worship.  Campers choose several activities for their daily schdule, which also includes a camp-wide chapel service, Bible study, and American Red Cross swim instruction (required of all campers). Through a vibrant arts/music program, multi-cultural games, and by celebrating the wide variety of backgrounds of campers and staff, we learn about our global neighbors  Weekly trips may include canoeing on the Peconic or Carman's River, off-site camping or hiking, trips to beaches and nature preserves.  Campers will discover the wonders of creation found onsite in native plants, animals, and seashore life.

Celebration: Adventure, discovery, worship, and community are at the heart of camp life.  The community celebrates together in Daily Morning Prayer and a weekly Eucharist.  The campers experience Bible stories through art, drama, music, games, and discussion in lessons that inform young people that God and spirituality relate directly to their own lives at camp and at home.  A full-time chaplain, working with visiting Diocesan clergy, coordinates the services, classes, and pastoral care.
